Appearance:
Where others might expect one of a more 'animalistic' clan to have wilder hair, Utai tends to subvert this. The young man prefers to keep his chestnut brown hair at a medium length, his bangs hanging just above his eyes with the hair around his ears and in the back cropped shorter. His hair is layered, and meticulously groomed leading to an incredible, feathery softness.

Utai's eyes are a lighter shade of brown that catch light in a way that really punctuates his gaze. A little subtler is a faint ring of green pigment around his pupils, barely noticeable but nevertheless, present.

In terms of physique, Utai is, admittedly, fairly average in terms of height and weight. His training as a shinobi has provided him with a toned body which isn't outstanding by any means, but is slightly more impressive than the norm. Utai is of fair complexion, with the two red clan markings adorning his cheeks.

When it comes to attire, Utai likes to keep it a little more casual. The Inuzuka can usually be seen wearing a button up hoodie of off-white colour with black fur trim, overtop a black, long sleeve shirt upon the front of which is a large, white paw-print design. Adorned on his right wrist is a spiked leather dog collar, purely for aesthetic. His lower half is covered by a pair of black, shin-length shorts held up by a standard leather belt, his headband tied around his left thigh. Clipped onto the belt are Utai's various pouches. Finally, his choice of footwear is a black pair of standard shinobi tabi.

Personality:While a tad uptight at times, Inuzuka Utai is nevertheless a kind soul and easy to get along with. That being said, his kindness has gotten him into more than one complicated situation over the years, often the result of a complex in which he suffers immense, if relatively short-lived, guilt at letting people down. As such, he strives not to disappoint the people around him and is prone to overestimate his limitations.

As mentioned before, Utai can indeed be a bit tense in his day to day life. Being primarily a ‘little picture’ thinker, Utai tends to worry about things that he really should not. Where others are easy-going and carefree, it would be accurate to say that Utai is a mere shadow of that personality. Outwardly, his neuroticism doesn’t generally show itself unless the Inuzuka boy is under great stress, allowing him to laugh and joke around as good as anyone. But this facet of his personality is generally just under the surface and tends to remain there.

One more large aspect of Utai’s personality is his pride as an Inuzuka. While not as refined and sophisticated as other clans, the boy takes great pride in his family and their ways to the point that should anyone come to insult them, he will take great personal offense. While not a necessarily confrontational person, this will often times cause Utai to lose his otherwise kind atmosphere.

Most often, during his spare time Utai can generally be seen relaxing above all things. Whether this be by unwinding with some simple drawing sessions or via interacting with Shikon, his ninken partner. Among his absolute favourite pass-times, however, is a good game of Go, to the point that he has (unsuccessfully) tried to train Shikon to play.

History:
Great things were not expected of Inuzuka Utai as he was brought into the world on a warm May afternoon. He was not expected to be some great hero of Konohagakure, nor was he ever expected to become Hokage. No, Inuzuka Utai was expected to do one thing and one thing only: live his life in as fulfilling a way possible to him. This sole expectation was placed on the boy by his mother, Inuzuka Kaori , though her intentions were not as selfless as they appeared, but they were definitely just loving. Three years prior to the young Inuzuka’s birth, Kaori and her husband Ikkatsu had lost their only son, Koujin to the perils of the shinobi lifestyle. This had a resounding affect on both the parents, but Kaori was hit the hardest, causing her to retire from her career as a shinobi altogether and instead find work in the safety of a local flower shop as she mourned. With the birth of Utai, Kaori feared that her newborn son would eventually be taken in by the lure of the shinobi lifestyle as well and that it would lead to a similar end, so she made it clear from the start that she wanted the boy to acknowledge that he could do literally anything in the world and not just be a ninja.


Koujin, despite being absent from his life physically, would indeed play a large part in shaping Utai as a child. As was natural, there were times that he would be forced to bask in the shadow of a brother he never knew, but he made sure that that wouldn’t be the case forever, even if he was too polite to say anything about it to anyone who thought otherwise. Despite this, Utai never held any lasting contempt for his brother or his memory, rather, Koujin and whatever legacy he left behind acted as the boy's motivation and frequently Utai felt comfort in knowing that someone up there would at least be watching down on him. Given the stories that his mother would share with him of Koujin's feats as a shinobi in the great war, Utai was doubly glad that his guardian was the man many knew as 'Yamainu no Konoha'. One day, Utai decided, he'd earn a legendary name of his own.

Unfortunately for her, as Utai grew older and older, he grew more and more fascinated by the lifestyle and decided that he too would enter the ninja world. So at the tender age of 8, Utai began training with his father whenever he had the time to spare and at age 12, the boy was entered into the academy and at least partially prepared for it. It was at this time that he was presented with his very own ninken, Shikon, and while the bond was not instantaneous by any means, the two quickly grew closer as they learned side by side in the academy.



While by far not top of his class, Utai and Shikon nevertheless passed their final examinations with flying colours, pulled mostly by his determination (and an insane amount of studying) and graduated from the academy at age 14. His rookie year as a new genin was again far from superb, the young boy and his canine companion stumbling many times upon the bumpy road to success. One such bump involved a rather messy incident regarding a noodle cart and a dozen cats, the aftermath of which still shakes the village at it's foundations.This in turn lead to him being removed from his genin team, an odd but apparently necessary move for the village elders, who assured him that they would instead seek to place him with a more comfortable fit, team wise, leaving the boy on stand-by duty and with a tremendous feeling of embarrassment. In the end, Utai realized that these trials were a necessity on the very long and winding road, the very one that that could took Koujin's life in the blink of an eye, and that he would have to take it in stride. Now, with news of a new team finally being ready for him, the young boy and his loyal partner look forward to the challenges ahead.

Combat Style: Like most Inuzuka, Utai focuses primarily on using his body like a weapon, utilizing strength and speed more than his other traits. While he is mostly a taijutsu minded fighter, he supplements his physical arsenal with long to mid range offensive as well as defensive ninjutsu. While not a particularly lethal minded fighter, Utai does go into battle with the intent of winning, or accomplishing something in some cases, and as such does not hold back. Another aspect of his fighting style stems from the use of coordination of his Ninken, Shikon. These two have a mutual understanding of one another, a unique trait of the Inuzuka clan, and as such are skilled in cooperative combat and have even developed a repertoire of more or less choreographed combination attacks.

Description: Shikon is a fully grown canine of a distinct northern breed known for it's endurance and strength. He is fiercely loyal to his Inuzuka companion, Utai, as most ninken in the clan are. However, in a reflection of his partner, Shikon is more calm and collected than he is wild and often shows a degree of human understanding that naturally comes in handy in the field. He would easily put his life on the line for Utai, knowing the boy would do the same for him.
